Mindset Moments™ takes the same evidence-based resilience training I developed in partnership with Duke Clinical Research Institute and used to train Navy SEALs, LAPD officers, families dealing with cancer, and healthcare workers at hospitals like Duke Health, and delivers it in a format that's easy to implement into any school, after-school program, or youth mentoring organization.
There's no elaborate teacher training required and it only takes 10 to 15 minutes a week to have an impact. Through short, structured, mentor-led conversations we build real connection, between students and the caring adults in their lives, and between students and each other. That connection is the point. Schools with stronger relationships and a genuine sense of belonging are safer schools, and Mindset Moments™ is built to create exactly that, one short conversation at a time.
It's already at work in middle schools, high schools, and after-school programs across the country, including private, charter, and public schools in under-resourced communities, and organizations like Project Blue, Boys & Girls Clubs, and the USTA.
Mindset Moments™ lives under The MacDermott Method. If you're part of a school or organization that might be a fit, you can learn more and get in touch there.

The Ready & Resilient Youth Initiative takes that same approach further, pairing resilience training with rigorous academic instruction on a single platform, so schools and school systems can strengthen both the mind and the character of their students at once. It's a joint program I built with learning scientist Dr. Jennifer Winward of Winward Academy, an online education company trusted by families and schools in more than 70 countries, combining her adaptive "Ready" academic curriculum with the "Resilient" Mindset Moments™ curriculum.
The initiative is designed to scale, from a single school to an entire national system, fully customizable to a region's standards, language, and values, and backed by a "white glove" partnership model: in-country training, professional development for educators, and ongoing support, not just a platform handed over and left behind.
It's currently being developed as a nationwide partnership with the UAE Ministry of Education, beginning with pilot programs.
The Ready & Resilient Youth Initiative also lives under The MacDermott Method. If you're exploring resilience and academic programming for a school, district, or country, you can learn more there.
