Skills-Based Counseling
Build a Resilient Mindset
Sometimes it happens. You’re going along fine, life is unfolding in a comfortably predictable way, and then suddenly, without warning, the floor drops out from beneath your feet. You get a diagnosis. You lose your job. You lose someone you love.
Other times, there’s a slow build-up of frustrations and disappointments until one day you wake up wondering how your life could possibly have taken such a wrong turn.
No one is immune to the unexpected trials and tribulations of life.
The question is: How much will you suffer?
I find it tragic that so many people must spiral all the way down to rock bottom before they surrender and allow themselves to open to the possibility of relief.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
There are always hidden opportunities in our challenges, and it helps to have someone who is not blinded by the emotional charge of the situation to help you see them.
Resilience is a mindset—made up of empowering beliefs and life-saving skills that can be learned.
I teach resilience to all my clients.
The Power of Skills-Based Counseling
My unique resilience model allows me to help clients work through their presenting problem while simultaneously teaching them a set of skills that help them feel capable of handling whatever challenge life will throw’s at them in the future.
Applying resilience training to individual counseling
helps people overcome their immediate challenges
and build a resilient mindset
that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
Therapy does not have to be a long-term commitment. I believe in setting clear goals and achieving them. No matter how long you choose to work with me, you will come away with an expanded repertoire of tools for navigating life’s ups and downs.
That is the other thing people don’t realize about resilience: these skills help in the UPS as well as the downs. Resilient people are keenly aware, appreciative, and able squeeze every last bit of happiness out of the good times.
